Active Learning – An exclusive and innovative English teaching methodology.
With strict criteria and standards for training qualityand a team of highly experienced experts and lecturers, American Academy (AMA) has carried out a variety ofresearches and experiments on teaching English to over 2,000 students aged 5 - 46 in many countries, including Cambridge, the U.K., New Hampshire, the U.S., Torino, Italia and especially Hochiminh City, Vietnam (Cleverlearn Vietnam) by applying a new and unique model known as ACTIVE LEARNING.
The key feature is learning One on One – Face to Face: This method enables students to have more time to interact with native teachers than ever before, break through communication barriers, develop language skills, especially Listening & Speaking, and practice received pronunciation (British or American English) with native experts. The concept of “shyness” or “hesitation” in expressing ideas is almost non-existent as from the second session. In addition to correcting all grammatical and writing errors, teachers also emphasize the on-the-spot memorization and practice, bringing the fastest and clearest take-aways from each session.

Therefore, all teachers must be highly experienced and knowledgeable about ESL students’ psychology and have TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) certificates. Above all, teachers must be patient, dedicated and have passion for the educational career. AMA has over 80 teachers with both certificates and a certificate in Active Learning training.
Active Learning model also provides students with personalized experience and learning initiative. This is an important determinant ofstudents’ performance by creating an exciting and relaxing atmosphere that prevents them from feeling tired in class. The schedule is quite flexible. Students can study anytime during a day and any day during a week and take full control of their study and work plans. For young students from 6-17 years old, this teaching method puts emphasis on the practice of self-conscious and proactive learning habits, and helps students shorten their exam preparation duration in case they can’t attend class regularly and need to focus on international exams or official curriculum at school.

The application of E-Textbooks and E-learning software of Longman & Cambridge Publishers to the teaching of Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing sections also enables students to focus on improving their weak skills as well as radically resolve the disparity problem. This method is especially useful for those who are preparing for international exams such as TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS. It is guaranteed that all students of Active Learning program will achieve IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL iBT 87+ upon completion.Several excellent students of AMA have been recommended and awarded scholarships to pursue undergraduate and graduate education at many prestigious universities in the world.
Active Learning can optimize the takeaways from each session. This is one of the most effective methodologies of foreign language learning that we have studied and applied successfully so far. The model has been recognized by many reputable educational institutions and universities in the world. And AMA has become the official partner of British Council, Cambridge Vietnam, TESOL Global, Cambridge ESOL of Michigan University, the U.S., Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam, HCMC University of Medicine, RMIT University Vietnam and especially St. John International University, a member of New HampshireUniversity, the U.S.And AMA students are exempted from English entrance exams for undergraduate and graduate education at the above partners. On March 03, 2012, AMA was awarded Vietnam’s Golden Dragon Prize 2011 by VnEconomy News.
