About AMA

1. History

Founded in the U.S. in 1999, Clerverlearn Inc. has been widely recognized as a leading, reputable and reliable English Language Center with over 10 thousand students worldwide. In 2003, Cleverlearn Inc. officially expanded into Vietnam.

In July 2010, Cleverlearn Vietnam signed a cooperation contract worth US$3 million with American Academy, a prestigiouse ducational organization derived from AITMA (American Information Technology & Management Association), to be supplied withnew training materials and management procedures for the improvement of teaching quality in its 9 branches.

Approved by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam and HCMC Department of Education and Training, on Feb 20, 2012, Cleverlearn Vietnam – HCM Branch was officially merged with and renamed American Academy (abbreviated as AMA).

This merger marks the birthof a strong and exclusive brand name in the American-style English teaching sector in Vietnam, and simultaneously asserts the process of overcoming challenges and taking opportunities for continuous innovation and sustainable development in the integration period. The event is also the starting point of a new direction towards undergraduate and graduate education, linguistics, and research into methodologies of English language teaching in which Active Learning is one of the most effective and innovative methods specially developed by AMA.

As the acquirer of Cleverlearn HCM, AMA, with the slogan “Care & Success”, is committed to improving teaching quality and offering more practical benefits to students.

2. Teaching and Learning Method:

The key feature is learning One on One – Face to Face: This method enables students to have more time to interact with native teachers than ever before, break through communication barriers, develop language skills, especially Listening & Speaking, and practice received pronunciation (British or American English) with native experts.
Learning personalization and initiative. This is an important determinant of students’ performanceby creating an exciting and relaxing atmosphere that prevents them from feeling tired in class, and simultaneously building up their self-study habits, and shortening their exam preparation duration in case they can’t attend class regularly and need to focus on international exams or official curriculum at school.
In addition to correcting all grammatical and writing errors, teachers also emphasize the on-the-spot memorization and practice, bringing the fastest and clearest take-aways from each session.
The application of E-Text books and E-learning software of Longman & Cambridge Publishers to the teaching of Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing sections also enables students to focus on improving their weak skills as well as radically resolve the disparity problem. This method is particularly useful for those who are preparing for international exams such as TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS.
In the English for Kids and English for Teens programs, students can play funny games in class and experience fantastic extra-curriculum activities and fieldtrips such as AMA Amazing Race, Super Team Challenge, and Spelling Bee via a sophisticated combination of mental and physical education, motivating them to become more active and sensitive, instilling intelligence and creativity, and building up the sense of teamwork from their young ages.
